A major project initiated by Namoi CMA will utilise scenario planning to flesh out ‘futures’ for the Namoi Catchment looking out 30 years.
The project will develop a series of scenarios about possible futures for the Namoi Catchment covering the social, cultural, economic, environmental, technological and political aspects. It looks at the total Catchment resource base and how it may be utilised in 30 years time.
“Anyone can create scenarios. But it will be much easier if you are willing to encourage your own imagination, novelty, and even sense of the absurd—as well as your sense of realism.” Peter Schwartz, cofounder of the Global Business Network.
“If you want to teach people a new way of thinking, don't bother to teach them. Instead, give them a tool, the use of which will lead to a new way of thinking." Buckminster Fuller (Senge 1994).
The workshop phase of the Namoi Scenario Planning project is complete and scenarios will be released to the community early in 2010.
